Phun is an educational, entertaining and somewhat addictive
piece of
software for playing with
2D multi-physics simulations in a cartoony fashion. It is part of our
long term mission to bring visual simulation to the masses, in this
case with main focus on science centers, schools and kids, but Phun is
actually hard to resist for anyone who starts using it. The development
of
Phun was carried out as a MSc project by Emil Ernerfeldt for VRlab and
Kenneth Bodin. Check it out in this video,
(xvid codec, also
available as wmv) or visit Phunland to learn more and download Phun!
During
the fall, a new company, Algoryx Simulation AB, was formed as an
off-spring from VRlab/HPC2N. Algoryx develops library software for
visual and interacive multi-physics simulation and is the combined
result of several research projects over the last 4-5 years. Further
information available from Algoryx
website (released Feb/Mar 2008).
Digital Dome Display in
Umevatoriet
2007-10
We
have installed a digitil visualization dome system in
Umeå's
new science center, Umevatorium.
It will be used as a digital
planetarium, for city planning, scientific visualization, full dome
video, and exciting things unheard of before!
New
lab infrastructure 2007-10
We recently moved out from our laboratory, Wonderland, and are in the
process of planning or new lab. The new lab will have a much broader
scope in IT and, but will still also host a strong infrastructure for
display and interaction.
Umeå
city model in Google Earth
2007-08
Our model of the center of Umeå has been integrated in Google
Earth. The project is still in a technology testing stage, and the
model is out of date, but if you want to try it, follow
this link in Google Earth. Improved aerial photographics have
recently been added by Umeå municipality.
Our own model is much more detailed than the version in Google Earth,
but will eventually be published when the 3D-performance of
Google Earth has been improved.
osgHaptics
incorporates haptic rendering
into one of the most versatile scene-graphs available. osgHaptics is
available for download (only windows for now) and SVN checkout from the
sourceforge
site. API documentation is available from here.
Download and try Colosseum3D
2007-08
A public runtime
version of Colosseum3D
is available for download. For now, only for the win32 platform. Read
more at the Colosseum3D
website.
We arrange
demonstrations and seminars
in scientific visualisation and virtual reality. Get In touch.
